Special Section on

Advances in Image and Video Processing for Emerging Multimedia Applications

for the

International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communication (ATC) Hanoi, 2016

      Multimedia applications have been playing a major role in the current society with video and image processing technologies largely driving the development of new services applications with increasing quality of experience. In addition, recent emerging multimedia applications, e.g. visual sensor networks, mobile video conferences, camera surveillance systems and HD, Ultra HD video broadcasting are asking for a more powerful video and image processing engine; especially in the era of massive information. Therefore, improving and exploring image and video signal processing technologies are much important research topics for experts from not only academia but also industry.

      In this context, this session aims to create a forum for experts from academia and industry to discuss and to share their innovative ideas on improving the image and video processing technologies. The session will cover the following topics:

  • Recent advances on video coding standards: HEVC, SHVC, 3D-HEVC
  • Emerging video coding paradigms: Distributed Video Coding, Compressive Video Sensing, Multiple Description Coding; Error Resilience Video Coding;
  • Recent advances on image processing and coding standards: Light field processing, JPEG and JPEG-2000 standards;

Special session on

Computational Science and Computational Intelligence (CSCI)

for the

International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communication (ATC) Hanoi, 2016

CSCI-ATC’16 is the third event in a series of successful special sessions within ATC conferences, previously held in Hanoi, Vietnam (2014), and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2015)

Computational science and Computational intelligence both aim at finding methodologies and approaches to address difficult problems. While Computational Science is concerned with using computers to solve complex scientific and real-world problems, Computational intelligence is the study of computational methods in ways that exhibit intelligence. The goal of this Special session is to offer an opportunity for researchers active in these two areas to exchange ideas and get together in a focused single-track meeting, in an atmosphere fostering discussion and the development of ideas for future collaboration. The session will host both invited and contributed papers covering, but not limited to, the following aspects:

  • Big data and data analytics
  • Soft computing
  • Machine learning and data mining
  • Image processing and computer vision
  • High performance computing
  • Natural language processing
  • Information security
  • Computational biology and bioinformatics
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Signal and information processing
  • Information retrieval
  • Intelligent systems and applications
  • Ubiquitous computing
  • IoT (smart homes and cities, smart grid, healthcare, environmental monitoring, etc.)
